This collection was designed back in Melbourne in 2009 on my annual design-trip. I had to put the collection on hold after we decided to go to New York Fashion Week in 2010, it came out a year later than planned.
The collection was a huge undertaking and was the most technically difficult collection we had ever done. The quilting and padding techniques brought us all to tears in the workroom but was well worth the pain.
It was inspired by a Luchino Visconti film called L'Innocente which influenced the textures, colours and mood significantly.
I also used the most expensive and gorgeous fabrics of my career which was a great indulgence.
The collection was manufactured in low volume with a high price-point and was bought by our most discerning customers.
AW11 was presented during New York Fashion Week 2011, with Barneys New York in attendance.
