Spring / Summer 2009

This collection was about deconstruction in a new way. I set about cutting up garments, taking out their core structures and cutting around the bone structure of the body.

This was a challenging collection to produce, with me being very young and taking on my first staff members. The workroom became a hive of experimentation and newness.  It was ambitious work and somehow we always managed to maintain a high quality of make.

The orange parachute silk was custom made in India for me after I found a vintage kimono in this vibrant hue.  Other fabrics included silk mesh and chiffon, resin coated cotton and snake-printed viscose.
